Our History
1978
Magnus was founded on August 23, 1978 in Los Angeles, California as "Magnus for Health and Beauty". At that time, the main idea was that a visit to doctors was the only means to get better from any illnesses. Preventive medicine was close to non-existent, and very few people were willing to try supplements for their own health. Under such circumstances, Magnus has patiently conveyed the role of dietary supplements. At first, there was only one product with odorless garlic as the main ingredient. Our product line evolved and diversified and today we have more than 20 kinds of original products.
The necessity of dietary supplements
In truth, if we had a well-balanced, nutrient rich diet, there would be no need for dietary supplements. However, we live in a constantly changing environment which lead to lower nutritional value foods that contain pesticides, additives and chemicals. To make matters worse, we also contend with environmental pollution, electronic devices that emit unhealthy electromagnetic radiation and modern life stress. As a result, the need for dietary supplements has grown day by day. Of course, taking "dietary supplements" does not mean we can be careless with our diet. The basics of good health are "diet, exercise and sleep". Maintaining the basics is difficult, so it is important to use supplements to help maintain good health and prevent illnesses.
“Fukken"
In 1981, we launched "Fukken" shiitake mycelium supplement. In the Orient, the shiitake mushroom have long been widely used because of its proven efficacy in supporting health. Magnus was the first one in America focused on the mycelium . Mycelium is the network of threads, called hyphae, from which mushrooms grow to develop the fruiting body. We made “Fukken” which is 100% mycelium as the raw material. Mycelium is a treasure trove of nutrients, and its power is immeasurable. In 1984, "Fukken" became so popular that it accounted for more than 80% of the total sales, expanding our sales channels not only in the United States but also in South Korea and other parts of Asia. Around that same time, the first "Dietary supplements boom" occurred worldwide, and people started seeking health foods.
Magnus Royal Green Silk
In 1982, we created "Royal Green", a green supplement made from young barley leaves. Young barley leaves are a great source of high nutritious value and delicious taste. However, since other companies already had patents for the method of making green supplements, we decided to utilize our own steam blanching method. This is a manufacturing method that applies the technology of "Matcha" and is a revolutionary one that Magnus used for the first time in the manufacture of green supplements. With this technology, the whole "leaf" can be used, and it is possible to ingest abundant dietary fiber without impairing the nutritional value. In 2001, we changed the main raw material from young barley leaves to mulberry leaves and released "Royal Green Silk". Royal Green Silk is an anti aging supplement that protects our health against lifestyle-related diseases and for those who are concerned about blood sugar levels. It is a product that has been attracting attention since its release and is loved by people of all ages.
Magnus’ Original packet products
In 1982, we introduced the first individual packet supplements with selected vitamins and herbal supplements in response to customers’ request for a convenient, easy to take product for busy mornings. Currently, it is sold as a product called "President Choice", which is a packet of products that the founder, Kinichi Torii himself favors and takes every day. It is very convenient for today’s busy and stressful lifestyle. One packet contains everything needed to support anti-aging, immune support and overall good health in an easy to carry and take packaging.
Health foods of the 21st century
In 1993, Magnus proudly introduced "Super Ginkgo-Max" as a "health food for the 21st century". It has been upgraded and improved many times since then and is now called "Ginkgo CoQ10 Max", directed for eyes, memory, and heart health. Ginkgo CoQ10 Max is a unique product that combines the wisdom of the East and innovations of the West. It is widely used by everyone as a comprehensive dietary supplement.
